The philosophy behind this course is to make it accessible to as many people as possible.

Therefore we have designed it one step behind cutting edge technology so you don't need all the latest "whistles and bells" in Web programs and you don't need to know any more than how to point and click and work with e-mail. We are using minimal graphics in order to minimize download time--we don't want you to sit and wait for some cute picture that adds little to content. In later years we'll add more as more people have more sophisticated software, faster machines, faster connections, and a higher level of comfort with things like video and audio clips.

In terms of equipment, you need a computer with Netscape (Windows or Mac) or something that is compatible with Netscape (it should work in Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox), access to the Internet, and e-mail so that you can send and get e-mail. A printer would be helpful to print out your assignments. That's it!
