Top destination institutions were Aiken Tech and USC Columbia; further behind were Midlands Tech, Piedmont Tech, and Clemson.

The IE Office is working to determine patterns of departure related to student characteristics. For instance, Ms. Herrin reported that a disproportionate number of engineering majors departed for USC and Clemson, and a disproportionate number of nursing majors departed for Aiken Tech. Dr. Hosch cautioned that while these patterns make intuitive sense, in many cases the number of departures are small enough that it will be difficult to identify statistically significant patterns by destination institution.

Action Team Report

Financial Aid Scholarship Committee – Glenn Shumpert

Glenn Shumpert, Director of Financial Aid presented the “USCA Financial Aid/Strategy Team Scholarship Strategy Summary and Recommendations” from the committee.  Glenn stated the process the committee was charged and made the following recommendations.

The scope of these recommendations was limited in order to implement them for the 2007/2008 academic year; they would be advances to build on in the future.

Dr. Hosch made the suggestion that we all read over the information provided by Glenn and the Financial Aid Scholarship Committee and contact Glenn for any clarification and when we meet in April modifications can be made at that time.

Meeting was adjourned at 4 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Gail Ratchford
