He asked Team members to note the reports listed on the
agenda. These reports:
IPEDS, CIRP, NSSE, State Accountability, Strategic USCA
Planning, Academic Tracking Report, EPT Annual Report are basic documents which
all EPT members should become familiar and are the foundation documents for our
work.
He then asked Dr. Braden Hosch to report on the IPEDS.
Programmatic Updates
IPEDS feedback report – Dr. Braden Hosch
- Federal Government Department of Education began
requesting IPED DATA in 2004.
- Dr. Hosch indicated that the IPEDS report compares
USCA to self determined Peer Institutions.
- The information on this report will help us position
ourselves 10-12 years down the road.
- Randy asked all actions teams, particularly the
Freshman Admissions Action Team (FAAT) and the Financial Aid Scholarship
Team (FAST), to examine this information in depth and determine what
information might lead to further discussion and action.
Research Updates
2006 CIRP Institutional Data – Dr. Braden Hosch
- Dr. Hosch distributed copies of the CIRP (Cooperative
Institutional Research Program) Freshman Survey which is administered to
incoming freshmen during the July and August orientation programs. The
response rate for this survey is about 93-98%.
- Each Action Team Chair was asked to:
1.
Discuss CIRP results at their next meeting.
2.
Forward dates and agenda items to Gail Ratchford to publicize before
meeting dates.
3.
Reproduce sections of CIRP that pertain to their specific action team for
each team member.
·
You can find a copy of the summary at
W:\ept\Discussions\index.html under studies - CIRP Institutional Summary
2006.
·
Dr. Hosch will e-mail the reports to the EPT chairs so they can
send them to the Action teams. He will be more than happy to meet with Action
Teams to discuss appropriate CIRP information.
Action Team Reports
Students At Risk Action Team – Stephanie Foote
- The SAR Action Team has been working on the Pacer
Success Program. Students who are placed on probation and/or have a GPA
below 2.0 are students who are being targeted for Pacer Success programs.
- 11 students participated in a Pacer Success workshop
prior to the Spring Semester. The Action team is determining ways to
increase attendance by Students At Risk.
- The Action Team will also discuss ways to educate and
communicate the new probation and suspension levels and policy to students,
faculty and staff.
- The Early Warning process continues to develop and the
SAR will continue to monitor and make suggestions for improvement.
- Ms. Foote will initiative regular reports on First
Pace in the near future.
Freshman Admissions Action Team – Andrew Hendrix
- The FAAT will be meeting on Friday, February 15, 2007
to discuss the new enrollment model and update the team on the current
admission numbers and activities.
- Andrew also shared that enrollment numbers are down
compared to this time last year and his staff is working with the 606
pending applications to encourage them to complete the admissions process.
- He also indicated that he felt that the number of
students who will transfer to USCA will continue to decrease as they have
over the past 3 years.
Campus Housing Action Team – Dr. Deb Kladivko
- Dr. Kladivko said that the CHAT committee is meeting
every other week.
- There is a contract for the design/build team for the
new facility (Residence Hall) and the concept for this facility was one that
would concentrate on “developing a sense of community among the freshman
class.”
- CHAT has met and will continue to meet with various
campus offices in an attempt to become more aware of what impact 300
additional students residing on campus will have on campus services and
programming.
- Currently there is no plan to have a wellness facility
in the new housing complex, but Dr. Kladivko said there would be some space
in the new facility to add some equipment.
Strategic Enrollment Planning Action Team – Randy Duckett
- The SEPAT Action (Dr Hosch) team has developed an
Enrollment Planning Model, which is being discussed with various groups.
This model has as its primary goal increasing the number of USCA students
who become USCA graduates annually. Due to lack of time, this model will be
presented to and discussed at the April EPT meeting.
In conclusion, Randy once again reminded EPT members to
read and keep a copy of all the “basic EPT background reports” listed above .
He stated that EPT and individuals have created a great
deal of productive activity and positive things are happening throughout the
campus because of our efforts. He thanked all EPT members for their hard work.
