Family Pomacanthidae

Larger bodied and head more rounded than butterflyfishes. Spine extending from cheek past margin of operculum.

Queen Angelfish (Holacanthus ciliaris): dark blue "crown" encircled in bright blue on forehead. Yellow-rimmed scales and yellow tail.

Rock Beauty (Holacanthus tricolor): middle of body black, with bright yellow forebody and tail.

Gray Angelfish (Pomacanthus arcuatus): gray body, scales with light margins, yellow coloration on inside of pectoral fin. Squared tail with white margin.

French Angelfish (Pomacanthus paru): black body, scales with yellow margins, yellow ring surrounding eye, and rounded tail. Juvenile with 3 yellow stripes.
