Family Serranidae

Large mouth (maxilla extending to pupil of eye). Divided dorsal fins with conspicuous spines on foredorsal fin.

Nassau Grouper (Epinephelus striatus): Irregular brown vertical bars and single black dorsal saddle at base of tail. Spiny foredorsal fin notched.

Red Hind(Epinephelus guttatus): Red spots covering body. White-edged, dark margins on soft dorsal, anal, and caudal fins.

Tiger Grouper (Mycteroperca tigris): Red spots organized into broad vertical stripes.

Coneye (Cephalopholis fulvus): Paired black spots on lower lip and 2 small black saddles posterior to dorsal fin. Body covered with small blue spots.
