Information for Students

The Department of Biology and Geology's Information for Students has been designed to provide students a single source for information concerning the biology major.  It is our objective to optimize students' success and assist them in reaching their academic, professional, and personal goals by providing quality guidance for degree planning and by serving as a resource for student career and life concerns.

Notes on Academic Advisement

All Continuing biology majors are strongly advised to take advantage of Priority Registration by making an appointment with their advisor to discuss academic progress.  Priority Registration is typically scheduled in November for spring registration and in April for summer and fall registration.  Students are expected to come prepared to their advisement appointment by having a working schedule for the upcoming semester.  All biology majors are advised by members of the biology faculty.

Freshmen and Transfer biology majors are advised during Orientation by members of the biology faculty.  Biology majors pursuing the Environmental Remediation and Restoration Concentration will be advised by the ERRP Director, Dr. Michele Harmon.

Nursing and Exercise and Sports Science majors wishing to enroll in Anatomy & Physiology should direct their enrollment questions to their major Advisor.
