Savior in the Second to Win
Jason Reynolds
Shattered eternity.
A mothers poison embrace.
Decaying angel,
Walking among
Burning towers.
Bloodshot eyes.
Stare toward skies.
Pretend princess
Waiting for her white horse.
Nights of torment,
Screaming and yelling,
Curses and fists fly out.
Destroying the image
Of her “perfect” family.
Black butterflies sit upon her shoulders
She hides in the closet
Waiting for the storm to subside.
Unseen tears,
Fall upon innocent hands.
Tear stained faces
Stare at pictures.
A reminder of how it used to be.
Longing for the good times
That will never come again.
