Postal Coding instructions for USC Aiken

1. put 31/2 floppy in drive

2. go to Windows Explorer and find file

3. if it is a .csv extension change it to .txt

4. double click on file & go into Wordpad to view the file; this will allow you to see the file structure, i.e. name street, city etc. 

5. close out of Wordpad & Windows Explorer

6. open Pitney Bowes SmartMailer

7. if a file with similar structure to new file exists, open it

8. go to address & select "delete all", this will mark all old records for deletion; go to file & click on pack & yes to remove all old addresses

9. go to file & import; select the file import type (ASCTl comma delimited), click on locate, look in and select 31/2 floppy; select the new file and click open

10.
click next; click on append mail list; next

11. name each field (click on arrow & select field name); next

12.  import

13. you may wish to check on file/identify fields to make sure all field names are identified; click on postal code; verify for discounts

14.
process mail/presort/batch; select yes for open .srt file

15.
click on print envelope icon; locate envelope designed for this file; if none, click on design envelope icon design envelope for this file

16.
file/print/report/postal coding reports; make sure you've switched from envelope printer to report printer, select CASS, Summary reports; print
