Faculty and Staff Services
The mission of the Office of Career Services is to assist students and recent graduates with career-related issues - selecting a college major, choosing a career, career planning, experiential learning and job search techniques.

Post Student Jobs
USCA Faculty and Staff can now post on-campus student employment positions online! As always, Student Employee Supervisors may also contact our office about advertising jobs via email, snail mail or telephone.

Class/Group Presentations
Outreach presentations are available to classes on a variety of career-related topics. These presentations are geared to help prepare our students for the "real world" experience of finding a job-- developing a career path, finding the right job, and getting that proverbial foot in the door. Our group presentations take place both inside the classroom, giving our faculty an opportunity to participate, and outside the classroom to accomodate those students with hectic schedules. The following topics are just a few of the many areas of career planning we can cover in our presentations:

  • Resume & Cover
  • Letter Interview
  • Job Search
    • Internet Job Search
    • Networking & Business Etiquette

    Class/Group Counseling:
Resume & Cover Letter Review, Mock Interviews
As part of our our faculty and staff outreach efforts, we offer services, such as one-on-one career counseling, resume & cover letter review and mock interview appointments, that can be used in conjunction with classes.

Student Employee of the Year Award
The Student Employee of the Year will be selected on an annual basis to recognize outstanding student employees at USCA.

    Student Employment Hiring Procedures
Once a student accepts a position on campus, the hiring supervisor should give each new student employee a Student Hire Checklist.

The student employee then brings the Checklist to Career Services to complete hire paperwork (including I-9), orientation, and e-verify.

Once all paperwork is complete, the checklist is signed and given to the student to return to the hiring supervisor.

Once the hiring supervisor has received the completed checklist, they can then hire students in VIP and put them to work. The date on the Checklist should be used as the hire/begin date in VIP.

    Important Points to Remember:

No one can work without having a completed checklist. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Departments should not distribute I-9’s to student employees.

New hires must have original documents to complete the I-9.

Direct deposit and W-4’s are all done online through VIP now.

International students can NOT work with out a Social Security Card.

International students can NOT be e-verified without a Social Security number.
