MINUTES

Dr. Hallman called the first Campus Cabinet meeting of the year to order.

Ms. Ginger Steel informed the group about Data Warehouse training sessions and encouraged that at least one person from each department be mandated to attend a workshop.  Upcoming training dates and times have been set for October 17 – 10:00 a.m., October 18 – 3:15 p.m., November 12 – 9:00 a.m., and November 13 – 11:00 a.m., will be located in B&E 238E and last one (1) hour.

Ms. Steel stated the procedures for Worker’s Compensation.  Injuries must be reported to Human Resources and the proper paperwork completed.  All injuries must be reported even if no medical attention is sought so that an incident report can be created in case future medical attention is required.  Students who are not employed by the University and are injured will report those injuries to the office of Student Life Services.  Ms. Steel also mentioned that October is open enrollment for benefits.

Mr. Randy Ducket updated the group on the hiring of USCA’s new Director of Admissions, Mr. Andrew Hendrix.  He will report Monday, October  8th.

Dr. Deb Kladivko announced the opening of the Student Health Center located in the Nursing Building.  It is staffed with two nurse practitioners and one administrator with some administrative support.  The center is open twenty (20) hours a week.

Mr. Tony Ateca provided an update on the Convocation Center and its intended uses as well as provided some insight as to how this new structure would provide additional space for the campus. Drawings as well as a topical survey of the site were provided.

Information about the United Way Campaign was discussed and the importance of this campaign to the Aiken community.  USCA’s goal this year has been set for $8,925.00  - a five percent increase over last year’s total.

Mr. Mike Hosang stated that the Family Fund Campaign is a little bit ahead of last year at this time.  He also reminded everyone that honorariums and memorials may be made at any time throughout the year.

Dr. Hallman briefed the group on the Strategic Planning Process and noted that Elaine Lacy has been appointed as Chair of this committee and Randy Duckett as Vice Chair.  Additionally, he reiterated the importance of maintaining a positive and productive attitude during this process and encouraged anyone who has any reservations regarding the importance of the process to meet with him on an individual basis for discussion.
