In the Chairperson's absence, JoAnn Davis, Vice Chairperson called the meeting to order. Minutes from March 15, 1993, were approved. There was no old business.

Ginger Noel made several announcements for Dr. Alexander who was attending a meeting in Washington, DC.

1. The Budget Planning Committee met last week regarding the $58,000 which has been allocated for equipment needs for various departments. Specific questions about these funds should be directed to your particular supervisor or to Ginger.
2. USC System Administration has contracted with an outside consulting firm to evaluate the administrative services offered through the system and to determine if there are things that can improve conditions. Representatives from the firm will visit the USCA campus sometime between now and July. No definite dates have been scheduled. Julie Bush expressed concern that traditionally when outside firms come into a business, the result is a cutting of personnel. Ginger responded that this may be the case in Columbia, but Dr. Alexander is committed to there not being a lay-off at USCA. We already have a very lean staff and there are no plans to cut staff personnel.
3. The issue of direct charges may be looked into. Ida Fogle announced that there would be a Records Management Seminar held in room 112/Administration on Friday, April 30. A memorandum was sent to all supervisors and Ida encouraged someone from every office to attend. This would provide an opportunity to look at your department's records to see if there is a better way to keep track of records and determine how long records should be kept. The meeting should last approximately one hour and should be very beneficial.

After Ginger's announcements, the Assembly moved into the voting for officers and committee members. Randy Duckett was elected Chairperson. Jodie Herrin was elected Vice Chairperson. Carol Benjamin was elected Recorder. Sherri M. Hutto was elected Parliamentarian. officers are elected to serve 2-year terms. serve 1-year terms.

he following six employees volunteered to help with the CEA Appreciation Bar-B-Que scheduled for Friday, May 14: Karen Morris, Linda Parrish, JoAnn Davis, Matina Spires, Kojak Martin, and Geni Staples.

Jennifer Culbreath announced that "Survival Kits" were still available for $10.00. These kits are loaded with lots of good things and if you would like to purchase one for your favorite work study student, contact Jennifer in the Alumni Office.

Cindy Sparling announced that the Math Department was hosting "Grooms" shower for David Jaspers on May 5 in room 230A of the Administration Building from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. Stop by and congratulate him on his upcoming marriage!
