EMPLOYEES ASSEMBLY MINUTES
May 23,1995
The May 23, 1995 meeting of the
Classified Employees Assembly was called to order at 2:40 by Chairperson Jodi
Herrin. Minutes for the April 19, 1995 meeting were approved.
Introduction was made of the new
officers of the CEA.
Report from Administration:
Dr. Alexander had a prior
commitment and was unable to attend. Dr. Tom Hallman made the following
announcements:
The conference committee is making
progress towards the budget bill ‑ level funding appears to be under
current compromise but there is still a long way to go. Level funding is a
$370,000 cut for us including not occupying the Administration Bldg. until the
95‑96 school year.
Committee Reports
The new chairs will meet with the
executive committee.
The Chairs for the committees are
as follows:
FUD
‑ Skip Townsend, Chair ‑ The FUD is soliciting concerns from
employees. They
need
additional members.
Nominating
Committee ‑ Lorraine Loibl, Chair
Advisory
Committee ‑ Julie Bush, Chair ‑ This committee will act as the
liaison with
Administration concerning management
and operations of the University. They
will meet today following the CEA
meeting.
Executive
Committee ‑ Judy Clements, Chair ‑ Met May 5th to organize, set
dates, and
review procedures.
Special
Events Committee ‑ Mary Anne Delaigle, Chair ‑ Thanked everyone for
their
participation in the Employee
Appreciation Day.
Orientation
Committee ‑ Jan Hardin, Chair ‑ The Orientation Committee has not
met.
Resolutions
Committee ‑ Sue Boatright, Chair ‑ Recognizes achievements and
service
to the University.
All committee chairs reported on
their memberships.
New Business
Another FUD committee member is
needed. The Nominations committee will look into a recommendation.
Classified Employee Survey ‑
The results have not been analyzed. We hope to be able to have this information
made available to all classified employees by the next meeting if not before.
The survey will be a good indication of any problems, concerns, etc.
Announcements
Introductions
were conducted for the benefit of new employees.
Agenda
deadlines are listed on the back of the May 23, 1995 Agenda. The deadline is 10
days prior to the next meeting.
Kojak Martin,
representing the South Carolina State Employees Association, passed out a memo
dealing with legislative action concerning state employees.
There being no
further business, the meeting was adjourned.
