Classified
Employees Assembly
Executive
Committee Meeting
Minutes
December 15,1997
The CEA Executive Committee met for lunch today at Acropolis Restaurant
with Judy Clements, Bob Weisner, and Brenda Hill present.
Several items were discussed:
The next CEA meeting is planned for the last week of January or first
week in February. Judy will conf irm a date after checking Dr. Alexander's
calendar.
It's almost time to begin the process of nominating and selecting the
Classified Employees of the Year. Judy mentioned that the criteria and list of
past winners was available on the public section of the J drive. A message
calling for nominations will most likely go out via the ListServe with paper
copies to maintenance and housekeeping personnel in late January.
There is a vacancy on the Nominating Committee with Winona Hatcher's
departure. Nominations will be taken at the January/ February meeting.
The Advisory Committee has not met with Mr. Malmrose yet. The issue of
better means of communicating with maintenance and housekeeping personnel was
raised at an earlier CEA meeting.
It was mentioned that a line item for meritorious raises should be
built into the budget with a set amount of money, criteria, and a committee to
select those employees to receive raises being established. Judy agreed to talk
with Ida Fogle about salary equity for classified employees and regulations
governing such raises.
It was mentioned that the classified employee survey results might be
delayed with the departure of Dr. Wanda Hayes.
It was suggested that with the limited amount of business to be
conducted at the January/ February meeting, it might be good to have a speaker
address the group on a topic of interest to a large number of people. A
suggestion was to ask Mike Findley to introduce the new police officers, if
available, and also talk to the group about campus sof ety.
The business meeting adjourned at 12:15 p.m.
