Language Arts Festival -- February 2007

Language Arts Festival 2007

Three students at the Language Arts Festival proudly display their medals.

The second annual Language Arts Festival was held on the USCA campus on February 3, 2007. Festival Director Dr. Keith Griffin announced that 12 Aiken County secondary schools participated. Response to the festival by the participants and their teachers was quite enthusiastic.

Festival events included Dramatic Monologue, Oral Interpretation, Original Poetry, and Storytelling. Students competed in groups defined by grade level. An army of volunteers from the USCA campus, the community, and the faculty of the secondary schools made the event possible by judging, tabulating, and assisting Dr. Griffin with the administration of the event. New features this year included expanded participation and very nice award medals for the top three students in each category. A total of 35 medals were received by the outstanding students.

Andrew Hendrix from the Admissions Office met with potential new students and their parents during breaks in the event.
