STUDENT TEACHING APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

 

STEP 1: COMPLETE A SCHOOL OF EDUCATION INTERNSHIP APPLICATION DURING ADVISEMENT (ONE YEAR PRIOR TO INTERNSHIP) 

  

STEP 2: COMPLETE THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION STUDENT TEACHING APPLICATION PROCESS DURING ADVISEMENT (ONE YEAR PRIOR TO INTERNSHIP)

STEP 3: PAY THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION INTERNSHIP FEE

 

The SCDOE processing fee is $105.

 

STEP 4: COMPLETE THE ELECTRONIC FINGERPRINTING PROCESS 

For fingerprinting you will need to go to the website listed on the handout (see attachment) and sign up for a location and time to have your fingerprints done. The fee will be an estimated $55 that you will need to pay at the time you make your appointment.

Pursuant to Section 59-25-115 of the SC Code of Laws, all teacher candidates must have a cleared background check on file with the SCDE before they can begin the student teaching semester. Background checks are valid for 18 months.

 

STEP 5: SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR FINGERPRINTING RECEIPT AND SOCIAL SECURITY CARD TO THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION 

Once you have been fingerprinted, please provide us with a copy of your receipt AND a copy of your social security card. DO NOT email us a copy of your social security card. You may submit in person (B&E 210), send via mail (USCA School of Education, Box 28, 471 University Parkway, Aiken, SC 29801), or FAX your information to us (803-641-3698).
