VITA
Jeff Priest is the Head of the School of Education and Professor in the Department of Biology and Geology at the University of South Carolina Aiken. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Master of Teaching Degree in Science Education from the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, and his Ph.D. in Zoology/Wildlife Ecology from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Prior to coming to USC Aiken in January 1988, Dr. Priest was a non-game education specialist for the Florida Game and Freshwater Fish Commission Everglades Region. Before taking over the School of Education in July 2001, Dr. Priest was the Director of the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center. Dr. Priest’s research interests include systemic change in school systems, general ecology of coyotes, and methods of turning teachers and students on to science. Since 1988, Dr. Priest has received over $12 million in grants to help schools in South Carolina improve their science and mathematics education. In his spare time Dr. Priest enjoys wildlife photography, traveling, and golf.
