VITA

 

Dr. Melany Rish is an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education at the University of South Carolina Aiken. Prior to coming to USC Aiken, Dr. Rish taught first grade in Richland County and Preschool at the USC Children’s Center in Columbia, SC. While working on her Masters of Education degree in Elementary Education at USC, she served as an Instructor of Early Childhood Education at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Rish earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina in 2003. Her research interests include using children’s literature for science instruction and cultural diversity as it relates to early childhood classroom curriculum and teacher preparation curriculum. Dr. Rish serves on the board of the South Carolina Association for the Education of Young Children (SCAEYC) and has presented on the local, state, and national levels.
