VITA
Dr. Vernelle Tyler, an Associate Professor of Education, at the University of South Carolina Aiken, received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Morris Brown College, an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from USC, a Ph.D. in Elementary Education from USC and an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from USC. She has been a Principal at Leavelle McCampbell Middle, an Assistant Principal at Warrenville Elementary, a teacher in Aiken County Public Schools and has served as a principal apprentice and a curriculum coordinator. She currently teaches undergraduate language arts classes, early childhood education classes and works with teacher interns. Dr. Tyler’s ultimate goal in all classes is to provide students opportunities for a quality education. She challenges students to surpass their capabilities and use creative and innovative techniques that will enhance their own students’ critical and higher level thinking skills.
Dr. Tyler’s scholarly activities include conducting numerous presentations and/or conducting workshops and publishing articles on literacy development, teacher recruitment and teacher support.
