Candidates seeking certification in Middle Level Education will be certified to teach at the middle school or grades 5-8 level. Each candidate receives a foundation in middle level curriculum and organization and the characteristics of the young adolescent. Additionally, candidates receive preparation in two content areas: language arts, social studies, mathematics, or science. The candidates are required to complete at least 100 hours of clinical experience at the middle school level prior to their internship. The program meets the standards established for Middle Level Education by the National Middle School Association (NMSA).
