After earning his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at USC-Columbia, Don Blount joined the English faculty at USCA in 1974. Since that time, Dr. Blount has taught a variety of English classes on this campus, everything from composition to Great Books.
Three times he participated in NEH Summer Seminars (1978, 1981, and 1989), and over the last thirty years, he has published poems and book reviews in a number of journals. For more than a decade, Dr. Blount engaged in the task of editing the letters of poet Wallace Stevens to his wife. That editing project entitled The Contemplated Spouse: The Letters of Wallace Stevens to Elsie was published by the University of South Carolina Press in 2006.
Dr. Blount has also served on many standing committees of the Faculty Assembly and given numerous talks to community groups.
