Printing
While I have a second and am thinking about it, a major issue for the laptop class is the inability to print to a campus printer. All of our campus printers are located in their personal "homes" (B&E Suite, H&SS 106, Writing Room, etc.). Because the laptops are "homeless," they don't have anywhere to which to print.
While I'm at it, the laptop class in a "traditional" classroom does not allow me to use the computer and LCD projector without turning my back to the class. Then again, that may just be a problem wiht the installation of the computers in the LCD classrooms in the first place. Frankly and despite some problems, H&SS 106 is the best designed classroom for computers on this campus. The classrooms in the B&E suite have some serious issues. I suspect they were designed with one goal in mind--to fit as many computer stations as possible. I wonder if a teacher or a computing person was in charge of the layout.
Of course, I have to teach over there next semester. I should learn to complain about one semester at a time ; ).
