In Fall 2005, Dr. Matthew L. Miller joined the English faculty. He earned his doctorate in English focusing on 20th Century American Literature at the University of South Carolina (August 2005). He received a Master’s degree (May 2001) specializing in multicultural literature from East Carolina University. He took two B.A.’s in English and history from Gardner-Webb University (May 1999).

Dr. Miller’s teaching and research interests are American literature, ethnic American literatures, African literatures, Caribbean literatures, other postcolonial literatures and theories, psychoanalysis, modernism, and postmodernism. He is currently exploring the relationship between trauma and literature in ethnic American and postcolonial contexts.

Dr. Miller lives in West Columbia, SC with his wife, son, infant twins, and the crazy, family cat. He enjoys reading, watching TV, and playing games with his children.
