Mr. Jim Saine received a B.S. in General Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, in 1967. Commissioned as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army, Mr. Saine served nearly twenty-five years in varied troop and teaching assignments around the world. While in the military, Mr. Saine earned an M.A. in English and American Literature in 1975 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He specialized in Southern American literature and wrote a Masters' Thesis focused on the Southern Agrarian Poets. He taught English as an associate professor at West Point from 1978-1981 and continued to instruct writing and literature in adjunct positions while in the Army at Fayetteville State University, Wheaton (Ill) College, and Tidewater Community College.
Mr. Saine left the Army in 1992 and came to Aiken to work as a training manager at the Savannah River Site. He returned to teaching in 1997 at Westminster Prep in Augusta and part-time at Aiken Tech. He has been an English teacher at Aiken High School since 2000, teaching primarily in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program
