Athletic Task Force Meeting

October 26, 2004

Minutes

Present:  Bill Claxon, Kim Wood, Bob Botsch, Deb Kladivko, Neil Berment, Jo Cunningham, Jerry Snyder, Ahmed Samaha, Dru Nix, Tom Hallman, Jim Kauffman, Tim Hall, Randy Warrick, Angie Osbon, Connie Pritchard, Randy Duckett 

The meeting began at 3:00 p.m.  Dr. Connie Pritchard reviewed the Peach Belt Athletic Director/President Phone Interviews.

Regarding the presentations it, was decided to categorize discussion issues into five broad areas: 1) Recommendations, 2) Action Needed, 3) Discussion Items, 4) Need Additional Information, and 5) Commendations.

After all reports were made, a detailed discussion regarding each of these areas and the final categorization, importance, and merging of issues will be accomplished.

Dru Nix and Ahmed Samaha made a presentation regarding Gender Equity, Diversity, and Student Welfare Issues (See attached).

Dr. Kim Wood and Dr. Bill Claxon made a presentation regarding the Academic Process and Success for Student Athletes (See attached).

After much discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m.

Next meeting will be Tuesday, November 9^th at 3pm, in room 102 of the B&E building.  (Same room.)
