With the advent of the global community, the study of a foreign language permits students a variety of unprescedented opportunities. The growing demand for bilingual employees in business, health care, education, government, and service industries means expanding career prospects for students who are familiar not only with the Spanish language, but also with Hispanic society and cultures.
Recent statistics show that North Carolina and Georgia are among the top three states with growing numbers of Spanish-speaking immigrants, providing further evidence that effective communication skills with a "limited-English" speaking public is critical. Students with even minimal Spanish-language skills are highly marketable and increasingly employeers recognize the necessity.
