CHOOSING A MAJOR

Many students are very sure of the career path they want to pursue. They have a plan and know what schools offer exactly what they need to get where they want to be. However, those students are not part of the majority. Choosing a major can sometimes be very difficult.

There is no exact science to choosing a major. Sometimes it is simply a matter of trial and error. What are your hobbies and interests? Do you like math and science or reading and writing? Are you an introvert or do you enjoy being around people? Do you like indoors or outdoors? All of these things are issues that can aid you in determining your major.

The Occupational Outlook Handbook is an excellent resource, providing profiles of thousands of career paths.
