TASKSIn conjunction with their One Mind, One Vote Campaign, the Hip-Hop Action Summit Network (HSAN) is sponsoring a contest in an effort to encourage young people to vote. The organization is looking for the students who develop the most innovative voter registration drive at their school. Russell Simmons, founder of HSAN, has agreed to donate $10,000 to the school that develops the best plan. He has also agreed to bring his entourage of celebrity friends and supporters to host the event at the school that wins. At the recommendation of your government teacher, your principal has hand selected a group of five individuals, yourself included, to represent your school in this competition. He/she knows the importance of voting and is interested to see what you come up with. The majority of the students at your high school aren't old enough to vote, but this is an opportunity to create partnerships with the community and to educate the younger students so that they understand the importance of voting when they are of age. With the upcoming presidential election in November, time is of the essence. You have two weeks to come up with a presentation to make to your principal. Each member of the group must actively participate in the planning process. Some things will be fairly simple, but the group must brainstorm to come up with a creative idea that will take your school over the top! Click here to find out exactly what is expected of you. After reviewing the description of individual tasks, decide what role each person will play. |
