Industrial Mathematics

The Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Mathematics prepares mathematically oriented students for careers in industry. Graduates of the program will be prepared for immediate employment in the various technical industries in the Central Savannah River Area.

In pursuing the B.S. in Industrial Mathematics, students will complete a set of courses that fulfills the general education requirements, a set of courses in mathematics and computer science, engineering and engineering technology, and several hours of elective courses. A required internship in a supporting industry provides real experience that prepares students for immediate employment after graduation.

A foreign language and science are also included in each curriculum. Although not specifically stated, French or German is recommended as the foreign language and physics is the recommended science.

Students are also provided free elective courses that allow the student to expand their knowledge into other areas of study in which they are interested. Students can select from courses in business, the humanities, history and political science, natural science, engineering, or other mathematics and computer science courses.

Exactly where a student begins studies in a program depends upon preparation. Preparation in mathematics may be assessed by the Mathematics Placement Test. Students who have scored 3 or higher on one of the ETS administered AP Examinations may be awarded college credit for certain courses.
