USC Aiken to Host Third Annual Language Arts Festival

USC Aiken will host the third annual Aiken County Language Arts Festival for middle and high school students on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008.

 

The Festival is open to middle and high school students enrolled in public, private, and home schools in Aiken and Edgefield counties. Students will compete in grade(s) 6, 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12 divisions.

 

Events include the oral interpretation of published poetry, original student poetry, dramatic monologue, story telling, and public speaking. Students may participate in two events. Each student will receive a commemorative pin, and Event/Division winners will receive medals.

 

Over 120 students from twelve different Aiken and Edgefield County middle schools and high schools participated in the 2007 Festival.

 

The Festival will begin at 9:00 am on the USC Aiken campus and will conclude shortly after 1:30 pm. USC Aiken welcomes family members and friends to attend the event and observe as students present.
