Pacer Crossings Chosen as Name for New Freshman Residence Hall

March 18, 2008

USCA officials recently announced “Pacer Crossings” as the name for the campus’ third residence hall.

The name Pacer Crossings was the winning entry in a contest among students, faculty, and staff to name the newest residence hall, which will open in Fall 2008. One hundred thirty-one people suggested 225 different names. Julius Lee, a senior sociology major, entered the winning name.

The four-story, 88,930 square feet hall will provide living space for 300 freshmen. Amenities of the building include furnished four-bedroom suites, 12 study rooms, 8 kitchens, a learning center, lounge space, and a game room.

The new hall will serve as the third residential complex on the University’s campus. It will join Pacer Downs, an apartment community which opened in 1984 and houses 352 students, and Pacer Commons, an apartment-style hall which opened in 2004 and houses 316 students. With the addition of the freshman hall, nearly 1,000 students will have the opportunity to live on-campus.

A dedication ceremony for Pacer Crossings to be held this summer is being planned.
