USC Aiken Selects Five Students as
“Pacer Diarists” for 2007-2008

USC Aiken recently announced five students selected as “Pacer Diarists” for the 2007-2008 year. The students: Shantivia Boneparte, Ken Kennedy, Phillip Lee, Theo Oates, and Laney Wiggins will be featured on the University’s website as bloggers who tell about their experience as a USCA student.
The Pacer Diaries have been in existence for four years and are part of the marketing and student recruitment initiatives at USC Aiken. Jeff Mastromonico, director of web development and visual communications, leads the Pacer Diaries program and describes the diaries as “ students capturing their experiences through personal stories and candid photos providing a real glimpse into student life at USC Aiken.”
Shantivia Boneparte (pictured below, far left) is a senior exercise and sports science major. A native of Orangeburg, S.C., she hopes to attend graduate school for cardiovascular technology. Boneparte is the special events senator of the Student Government Association and is a member of Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society, Voices of Praise, and the Compass Leadership Program. During the summer of 2007, Boneparte served as a team leader for new student orientation. She is also a certified nurse’s assistant.
Ken Kennedy, (pictured below, 2nd from left) of Winnsboro, S.C., is a junior nursing major. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the Student Government Association, and Pacer Union Board for student event programming. Kennedy plans to work in pediatric medicine.
Phillip Lee, (pictured below, center) of Aiken, is a freshman majoring in business administration with a concentration in management. He is a pitcher for the University’s baseball team.
Theo Oates, (pictured below, 2nd from right) of Hopkins, S.C. is a senior majoring in exercise science. He is a forward for the USCA basketball team and a mentor for students in the University’s Minority Achievement Program. He is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Seeds of Abraham. He also serves as a “Pacesetter” during new student orientation to assist freshmen entering college.
Laney Wiggins (pictured below, far right) is a senior and majors in business management. From Lexington, S.C., Wiggins is president of the Student Government Association and works in the Chancellor’s Office as a student assistant. She is involved in several student organizations including Pacer Union Board for student event programming and the “Pacesetters” for new student orientation. She is an active member of the Greek Community and serves as the Vice President of Sorority Recruitment for the College Panhellenic Association.
