The Ruth Patrick Science Education Center at USC Aiken will hold the 2nd Annual Galaxy Gala on November 29, sponsored by Trolley Run Station and R.E. Phelon Company.
The Galaxy Gala will feature live entertainment, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and planetarium presentations. A silent auction will be held featuring the opportunity to adopt celestial objects, a private show for up to 45 guests at the DuPont Planetarium, and a catered dinner for four under the stars.
Dress is casual. All proceeds benefit the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center and the DuPont Planetarium. Tickets are $35 per person, and the event is open to the public.
The event will be sponsored by two Aiken-based companies, Trolley Run Station and R.E. Phelon Company.
Trolley Run Station, a planned community, is located on 2,400 acres in Aiken. Its property features a 174-acre preserved wetland park. The community will feature a Family YMCA complex and a wide range of home choices clustered together in distinct “stations.”
R.E. Phelon Company, Inc. develops and manufactures innovative systems for the outdoor power equipment industry, from garden tractors and lawn mowers, to weed trimmers and chain saws, and other products with a small gasoline engine application. Founded in 1942, Phelon’s facilities are located in South Carolina, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Sweden, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico, with the corporate headquarters in Aiken.
According to Dr. Gary Senn, director of the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center, “The Galaxy Gala cannot be a success without our very generous sponsors. We appreciate the partnership we have with R.E. Phelon and Trolley Run Station as we work together to infuse a love for science, mathematics, and technology.”
