USC Aiken Focuses On Katrina
Below are just some of the relief efforts being made by USC Aiken faculty, staff and students.

The School of Education has “adopted” Central Elementary School in Gulfport, Mississippi. We, along with the Aiken Community, are accepting donations of school supplies to send to Central Elementary. Donations are being accepted until October 15, 2005.

 

The Alumni Council has adopted Waveland Elementary in Waveland,MS. One of our alums teaches at this school. The Council has also independently adopted Michael Simmons (another alum) to provide him with clothes. He was a grade student at the U. of New Orleans. The School of Education has adopted Central Elementary in Gulfport, MS to collect school supplies.

 

The USCA chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (International Honor Society in Education) will be collecting children's books that will be distibuted to schools in the Gulf area.

 

The USCA chapter of Daughters of Zion held a Car Wash on Saturday, Sept 24. All proceeds went to Hurricane Katrina Survivors.

 

The USCA chapter of Psi Chi held a donationn drive. All proceeds went to Hurricane Katrina Survivors.

 

The Unity group, Student Nursing Association, CAAB and the Office of Student Activities raised $5,000 that was donated to the American Red Cross.
