November 07, 2017

As part of its International Education Week activities, the University of South Carolina Aiken will feature an internationally acclaimed motivational speaker who will address The Importance of being a Global Citizen, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m., in the SAC MEZZ, located upstairs in the university's Student Activities Center.

The event is free and open to the public.

Peter Aberg, considered by some to be one of Sweden's most creative and groundbreaking motivational and inspiring speakers, has made more than 150 speeches on five continents around the world.

An experienced coach for executive management teams and groups with different skills and cultural backgrounds, he has a strong background in business control and project and change management.

"From speaking to the United Nations in New York to schoolchildren in South Africa, Peter inspires his audiences with the story of his own remarkable journey," organizers say.

His talk at USC Aiken takes place in the middle of International Education Week.

"IEW is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences," according to the state department's website.

Currently, USC Aiken has students from 32 countries enrolled in its student body. Throughout the week of Nov. 13, the university will host myriad cultural programs celebrating its internationally diverse student body.

USC Aiken, a comprehensive university in the University of South Carolina system, offers undergraduate and master’s degrees to more than 3,500 students in 50 programs of study.
