Admission Requirements
After admission to the University of South Carolina Aiken, students may be admitted to the baccalaureate degree in nursing major if they meet the following admission criteria:
1. Core GPA of 2.75 or higher
2. Completion of 30 core prerequisite credits in required general education courses prior to the date on which the application is submitted with a grade of "C" or better in all courses applied to the degree.
The following core courses must be completed with a core GPA of 2.75 or higher
with no more than one science failure prior to application:
- Anatomy ABIO 232
- Chemistry ACHM 101
- Physiology ABIO 242
- English 101 & 102
- College Algebra AMTH 108
- Intro Psychology APSY 101
- Intro Sociology ASCY 101
- Developmental Psychology APSY 310
3. Two letters of reference (forms provided)
Admission to the baccalaureate degree in nursing major does not guarantee admission to nursing courses. Meeting of minimum admission criteria does not guarantee admission to nursing courses.
Admission to Clinical Nursing Courses
A competitive admission process is in place for students applying for the baccalaureate in nursing program. Students in the baccalaureate degree in nursing major may apply for admission no later than October 15 to begin the clinical nursing course sequence in the spring semester, or March 15 to begin clinical nursing sequence in the fall semester. Enrollment is limited.
(If the 15th is a Saturday or Sunday, the application is due the Friday before.)
