The Department of Operations, Safety Office (3538), offers individual Fleet User Sessions (FUSS) designed for your needs whether it be van, bus, truck or automobile qualification. We provide you with all the information you will need including detailed information regarding the roadside assistance program (AutoClub), use of the Wright Express (WEX) Card, and defensive driving techniques. FUSS will outline procedures you need to follow should you experience an accident, mechanical breakdown, or other roadside emergency while operating a University vehicle.
After seeing a video (van and bus drivers) you will take a 20 question multiple choice exam. Upon successful completion you and Safety Guy (Len Engel) will take the bus and/or van out for a familiarity drive - be prepared! Len will obtain your driving record at www.scdmvonline.com so please bring your driver's license and any questions you may have. Please note a van driver must be at least 21 and a bus driver at least 18 years of age. Altogether the training and qualification process takes 90 minutes for vans/buses, 45 minutes for auto and truck.
