Katie Gerth
" I live in Pacer Downs and I love it. I love how I can go back to my room during the day if I have a break between classes. I also feel that I have met more people by living on campus. I do not think that I would have had a good college experience if I would not have lived on-campus."

Students in Class
Did You Know?
USC Aiken has some of the best professional schools in South Carolina. All three - business, nursing, and education - have received the highest level of accreditation possible. This means more opportunities for you to learn from the best and brightest the University has to offer.

Marcus Allen
"After coming to USC Aiken, I was really able to get involved in alot of great community service projects tha benefit both the local community and beyond."

- Marcus Allen, Business Marketing major

Erin Smith
"In each of our housing facilities, you'll find RAs like me, as well as professional staff members, who have undergone special training to help students deal with some of the common issues that may arise when living away from home for the first time."

- Erin Smith, Elementary Education major

Shelby Williams
"The best part of being a nursing major and actually being in the nursing program is the reputation USC Aiken nursing students carry. Many students and professors know that to get into the program here is competitive, and to be in the program is an accomplishment."

- Shelby Williams, Nursing major

TJ Langford
"During the course of my freshman and sophomore years, I was a resident in the Pacer Downs. When I first met my roommate my freshman year, we became the best of friends from the get-go. We found out that we were so much alike in many ways. We connected like brothers, and we are still roommates today during our junior year. "

- Anthony (T.J.) Langford, Communications major

Paige Jeffcoat
"Being a communication major at USC Aiken has definitely prepared me for effective communicating in a real world setting. I've even been able to communicate in a different language for guests at Disney, thanks to the French courses I’ve taken at USC Aiken. I constantly find myself using concepts that I’ve learned in the classroom; some of which I wouldn’t have been able to use until later after college. "

- Paige Jeffcoat, Communications major
Intern for The Walt Disney Company

Shantivia Boneparte
"USC Aiken was my very first choice because it wasn't too far from home, but I still got to leave home and experience something new. There were other colleges that I looked at, such as Emory, Winthrop, and USC Columbia, but I'm glad that I chose USCA. "

- Shantivia Boneparte, Exercise & Sports Science major

Lehe Drawdy
"I enjoy the small campus environment. My professors know me and speak to me even when I’m not in class. I enjoy walking around the quad and seeing people I know, and I am able to meet new people everyday."

- Lehe Drawdy, Political Science major

Houston Taylor
"I chose USC Aiken because you have more time one-on-one time with your professors, and the beauty and cleanliness of the campus and its surroundings are great. Also, I received a scholarship to play baseball."

- Houston Taylor, Secondary Education (History) major

Brittany Leverette
"Our campus is just the right size to get involved. You can get connected through Greek life, community service, sports, theatre, music, academic clubs, or student government - just to name a few. At USC Aiken, you'll develop relationships with other students, making our campus your perfect home away from home."

- Brittany Leverette, Communications major

Annie Zhao
"At USC Aiken, everything we do is with you in mind. Come to our campus, and you'll witness our professors, our staff, our students - the entire USC Aiken community - working together toward one common goal: your success. Our small class sizes offer a setting for personal attention from faculty - so you're an individual, not a number."

- Annie Zhao, Business major

Jon Boyles
"For many of our students, getting involved in community service is an essential piece of their college mosaic. Making a difference in the lives of others is what USC Aiken is all about."

- Jon Boyles, Business major

Ken Kennedy
"We want to provide you with the tools for a successful future. From the moment you set foot on our campus, you'll discover a multitude of programs to mold you into a more engaged citizen and prepare you for success. Through opportunities like the First Year Experience or organizations like Peer Educators, you'll learn what it takes to be a more well rounded individual."

  • New Orleans, LA (NOLA)
  • Hey everybody, and thanks for tuning in for the next installment of Ken's life, Im just playin but it is good to be back and Im glad to know that everyone is doing well. But its good to be back in good 'ol South Carolina after a long fall break in New Orleans, LA. This past fall break a campus organization called IMPACT took a group of about 50 USCA students to New Orleans to assist in the rebuilding of the city. We partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help build houses for the families that suffered in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and I must say that building a house was a lot tougher than I thought it would be. Not only did we have to build the house for the homeowners, but we also had to ensure that the house were "hurricane proof." This took a lot of work and was a very tedious task. Building the houses was not always all work and no play, yet I found it interesting to operate the tools that construcion workers use; such as skill saws, nail guns, etc. My particular group also found enough time during our break to build a "slip and slide" so we could relax and cool down from the heat. We had a great time building the new residences and I enjoyed everyone that went.

Students also had the oppurtunity to take a tour of the most affected areas of New Orleans, including the Lower Ninth Ward where the levies actually failed. We all noticed that there was some improvement in the area, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done and there are still a good number of families who are still without a place to call home. While touring this particular area of New Orleans, I dont believe there wasnt a single heart that was not touched by how much devestation swept throught the city and how much work still needs to be done. This was actually my second time visiting the city, I first went my Sophomore year, approximately 14 months after the historic hurricane, and even then my heart bleed for the individuals and families who lost their homes and lives in the wake of Katrina. I encourage everyone to look within yourself and find the time to donate your time or money to help the individuals who are still suffering. But, leaving you with that thought, I have to get ready to go because I have a little studying to do, but until next time everyone be safe and stay out of trouble.

  • Hey everybody, and thanks for tuning in to the next installment of Ken's life...lol, but I hoping everyone has had a safe and productive last couple of weeks and that everything is going well. As for me, everything is going great, I have been making some good grades in all of my nursing classes and I am really having fun in all of my clinicals. Though this semester is already starting to get a little tough, I am having a lot fun learning some new and different things. Before my Maternity clinicals actually started I thought that I would not get as many exciting experiences as my female classmates, because some when are a little apprehensive when they have a male nurse, but I am happy to report that I have been learning a lot and having fun in the process. I have gotten to see some cool surgeries and have even given a few injections here and there. My Adult Health clinicals are fun too, but it can sometimes be depressing to see your patient on bedrest and he or she requires total care (Bathing, feeding, cleaning stools, etc.) but I have been learning a lot there as well.

Though I love being in Aiken (I REALLY DO) I feel like I need a break. I want to go home and chill with my family, and see my little brother play football (#23 best Corner in SC) one friday night, but I also know I have got a lot of work to do and my family knows that I am taken care of. But thats all I have for now everybody, so until next time ya'll stay safe and stay out trouble.

  • Back to the Basics
  • Well folks, we are back at it again and school is in full swing. The returning students are coming back to changed USCA with renovation of our SAC (Student Activities Center) and the freshmen are the first to live in our new residential building Pacer Crossings. The SAC has many new things that help to enhance our college experience and with the expansion of our campus bookstore, the students are able to take advantage of an aray of different items. So I guess many of you would like to know how im doing in the nursing school, well everything is coming along great. I am taking two clinical classes this semester, Maternity and Med Surge I, which require me to travel to University Hospital and the Medical College of Georgia, both located in Augusta, GA. These classes are great and help to give me experience in the field of nursing.

Hopefully this semester will bring about alot of new and different oppurtunities, not only with the University and with classes in general, but with my fraternity and all of the many other organizations that I am involved in. Well folks thats all I have time for today...because of course I have to go study, but until next time, yall stay safe and stay out of trouble.

  • Its Break Time
  • Well Diary Readers its that time of the year again that EVERY college student looks forward to is SPRING BREAK. Its time for that much needed break after those dreaded midterms, a time to get away from those professors, and a chance to get away from those crazy roommates (sorry Jamie, TJ, and RIco). Most students will be going out and doing some extravagant things, but as for me I will be going home for a while and relaxing with my family, because I havent had a chance to do that in a long time. Im going to catch up on a little sleep, and just let all my stress be relieved. But even though I get a week off, I still have to look forward to a test and two papers that are due once I get back. So as I have asked of you before, just continue to pray for me so I can make it through another semester.

As far as school is concerned, everything is going extremely well. Im doing great in all of my classes and im continuing to grow as a student nurse. So hopefully U will be able to make the Dean's List this semester, and to keep my LIFE Scholarship for another year. But thats all I have for now people, so until next time yall be safe and stay out of trouble.

    -Ken

  • Its Been A Long Time!
  • Well well well diary readers, it has been quite a while since i have last talked to you. I just want to say sorry, its not the fact that I was neglecting you, its just that I have been a little busy with school and work for the last couple of weeks. There has been some interesting things that have happened to me since the last time we met, so lets get down to it. Recently USCA had their first annual Dance Marathon, which is a partnership with MCG to raise money for the children there, and in the weeks leading up to this noble event there was a pageant entitled the Mr & Ms. Dance Marathon Pageant, and in an effort to raise more money for the children I entered the pageant....but there was a catch....the men had to dress like women and then women had to dress like men....lets just say to make a long story short, yours truly now holds the title of Ms. Dance Marathon (remember it was for the kids...lol).

Well to continue, I have another little surprise for you...I was in another pageant (a real one) put on by the lovely ladies of Phi Mu Fraternity entitled the Mr. USCA pageant...thats right you might have already guessed but yours truly is the current Mr. USCA 2008...applause, applause...lol. Thats just a little of whats going on with me, but as always its time for me to get back to this school work, and make these grades so until next time yall be safe and stay out of trouble.

    -Ken

  • Back At It Again
  • Hey everybody, I hope that everyone had a safe and happy holiday season, and we have now completed our first full week back to school. So that means buying these expensive books and studying for these classes. However I am happy to be back in Aiken, so that I am able to see some of my friends and to get this Spring semester over with, because Im looking forward to the summer...lol. I am still working hard to keep up the good grades and to stay in the USCA nursing program, its getting hard, but its not impossible so I am asking everyone to continue to pray for me and everyone here at USCA as we go through another semester.

Along with a new semester and new classes, we also have more meetings and events that I have to help organize. My fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will be sponsoring a Male Etiquette Seminar on January 31, 2007, and we will be having an interest meeting for contestants for our upcoming Miss Kappa Alpha Psi pageant. This is just a small portion of the events that we are helping to bring to campus this year, we also have events coming from Pacer Union Board and Aiken Unplugged, so please be on the look out for all of these events.

But I hope everyone has a happy semester, and be on the look out for my next blog entry, so until then people yall be safe and stay out of trouble. test

  • Heading Into Finals
  • Well people the last week of the Fall Semester is drawing closer, and you know what that means...thats right, exam time. Im doing pretty well in 3 of my classes I just have one class that Im kind of worried about, but I know that through God all things are possible. Im just trying to study as much as can, and attempting to adapt some of things that I have learned in the classroom to everyday life so that I can get a better understanding of the material, but besides all of that everything is going great. Only one week stands between me and my much needed break. I plan to sit around and enjoy my family and be lazy for a couple of weeks, and I will not, and I repeat, I will not be thinking about school during this time...lol.

Hopefully I will be able to write back before Christmas so that I can wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, but in case I dont get a chance to do so, I would like to take this time to wish everyone a happy holidays, and to tell you to take advantage of the time with your family....kause I know I will. Until next time people yall be safe and stay out of trouble.

  • Great Break??
  • Hey everybody, its the day after Thanksgiving and I am stuffed, and I think I gained an extra 10 pounds, but its ok i guess I can stand to gain a couple of pounds...lol. Besides that I hope that everyone had a great break and enjoyed that time with their family and friends, I know I certainly did, It feels great just to be able to come home and relax and be able to talk to your family and have a good time with them. Sitting around the table laughing and joking with one another, and remembering some of the things my brothers and I used to do when we were younger. Its kind of fun to look back and remember much fun you used to have as a kid, and to look and see how you have grown into the person you are today.

It felt great to have my Mom, Dad, and two brothers with me for Thanksgiving, and I am thankful for having such a supportive family, and having a family that cares. But I really enjoyed my break so far, but I know when Monday hits, then classes start again and I have to get back to work, but I would love to hear how ya'lls break went...so shoot me a comment or hit me up with an email, but until next time ya'll be safe and stay out of trouble.

  • KONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
  • Greetings everyone...I would like to take this time to send a big kongratulations to the newest brothers of the Nu Nu Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (Kent James, Marcus Billie, Myke Gibbs, Aaron Doctor, and Theo Oates). So if you see these boys walking across the yard tell them congratulations on making it into "Kappa Land."

I would also like to take this time to thank everyone for coming out to the PSI-lent Treatment, and supporting those oh so pretty boys of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and also showing support as we put on the whole production of Kappa Week. We have many more things plan with the addition of our new brothers, so everyone look out for bigger and better things, because as you know....no one can do like the NUPES can.

But in other news Thanksgiving Break is almost here, so that means I can finally get a break from all of this work, so I cango home and get some of that good home cooking. (um huh). So if I dont write back before the holiday gets here I would like to take this time to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and be sure to save me a plate...lol....until next everybody, yall be safe and stay out of trouble.

  • Excuse My Absence
  • Ladies and Gentlemen, how is everybody doing? Ive been a little busy lately dealing with this Nursing School and trying to get everything together for this upcoming Kappa Week. My brothers and have a week full of events all of it leading up to our Main Event the "PSI-lent Treatment." We are asking that everyone come out and support us and get involved with all of the events that we have planned for this week. Last Monday I had my first flag football where i scored the first touchdown of the season (applause)....but after the game and for a couple of days afterwards I was pretty sore because Im really out of shape and them boys had me running from endzone to endzone.

Overall everything has been going great, and I am continuing to do great in all of my classes, just ready for thanksgiving break so i can go home and all of that good food my parents is going to cook. I can just imagine the chitterlings, turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoe pies.....i need stop before i chew throught this computer. But I really do need a much deserved break so that I can recooperate. I just ask that everyone continue to pray for me as the end of the semester draws closer, and I begin to complete my first semester in the Nursing Program here at USCA, but until next time kind people ya'll be safe and stay out of trouble....
