Its All Good... So Far!

Hey Everyone,

If I had to sum this pass week up in 2 words it would be absolutely fabulous!!! Well this past weekend, I went home for labor day holidays saturday night after I got done with over 13 hrs of work saturday. I work at the new BBQ restaurant in Aiken. The food is really good, but it takes alot of hard work to be apart of a restaurant business. Shout out to my Papa Russ BBQ coworkers.

So anyway, my boyfriend came and picked me up from aiken and we pretty much spent the entire weekend together, along with our families, because Sept. 1st was our 3 year anniversary. I know thats a long time, but we started talking our senior year in high school and have been together ever since. We went to different schools and long distance relationships are so hard because there is the issues of trust and commitment to deal with, but we got through it. Anyways, we went out to eat Sat. night and Sunday and I attended BBQ's for labor day also. It was a busy weekend.

Learning to Lead...Leading to Learn.

Whassup everybody?!!! Hopefully everyone has been doing pretty well since the last time I wrote. I know i have. This is turning out to be one of the best school years ever!!!

As usual alot has happen since the last time I wrote. Besides my regular week of classes and work, last saturday and sunday, I spent the weekend in Savannah, GA for the annual SGA retreat. It was great. We learned everything we needed to learn on how to conduct meetings, work together, and really make this year a prosperous year for student government. We are so excited about all of the things we have planned, and we are working extremely hard on making sure that our peers' voices are heard. Our upcoming Soccer Tailgating event is on Oct. 4th. So come our and support are ladies and men's soccer teams and get a chance to mix, mingle and bring up some issues that you want resolved on campus.

Also, on this past tuesday, I recieved my very first mentor through the Compass Leadership Program. Compass is an on campus organization targeted at minority students which focuses on increasing leadership skills on campus and after college. It is a wonderful program. In the little amount of time that we had thus far, I've been able to find out so much about myself, and i've learned how to express those feelings and present myself to others with great confidence. My mentor is so great, and I think that she will really help me this semester in understanding where I am now and what it takes to get where i want to be. We are also going to be doing some job shadowing which is always good for any college student. Stacie Williams, director of Multicultural Affairs is the advisor for the Compass Leadership program.

All- in- all, this week has been great and I know next week will be even better!
