Welcome to American National Government

In this course you will explore American National government, with a particular focus on the Constitution. The unique aspect of the course is that we have a FREE web based text that I wrote specifically for the course.

Please note that this home page is for two different sections, section 003, which is taught at 11 AM MWF and section 004, which is taught at 8 AM TT. Because one is a MWF class and the other is a TT class, the classes have different schedules and links to those schedules in the frame to the left. Make sure you link to the correct schedule for your class! Other than that, every thing is the same for the classes.

The course will consist of three main parts: 1) the Web based text and answering reading questions about each chapter in the text using Blackboard, 2) class assignments and discussions about questions raised by the text and current events you find in newspapers to illustrate concepts and ideas in the text, and 3) three exams covering 3-4 chapters each that used a mixed format, objective multiple choice and true false questions and essay as well, plus the general knowledge post test, that counts as an additional test.

You can find all the links you need in the panel to the left. If you have not used Blackboard before, just follow the instructions on the opening page.
