All extra credits
are worth 3 points apiece except as noted below. None will be accepted after the
last day of classes. All extra credit activities carry 3 points added to
your test grades prior to computation, unless otherwise noted. I will be adding events all semester, so scroll
down! That’s where you will find the new ones. Some campus events also
count for ICE credit.
All assignments
are worth 3 extra credit points unless otherwise noted. Assignments will be
added on a regular basis. You should keep a list and a running total of the
extra credit you have earned, so you can verify any discrepancies in your
professor’s records. I will try to post extra credit totals earned on
Blackboard but there may be a lag due to my own time constraints!
Note: no extra
credit work will be accepted after the last day of class. Extra credit assignments are always due one week
after the event, by midnight. Email your write up(or
turn it in during class) to carolb@usca.edu
Tues.
Jan. 18: Governor Haley’s State of the State address, 7 pm on SCETV. Watch the
program and do a short write up where you describe, in five separate
paragraphs, the five things about the speech that "jumped out" at
you, and why (be sure to evaluate her proposals there!) you will earn up to
five extra credit points towards your first test grade! Your report
is due via email by 9:25am tomorrow, or turn in at the beginning of
class.
Tues. Jan. 24 – President Obama’s
State of the Union address – 9 pm - extra credit.
After watching this (it will no doubt also be streamed on the White House
website), list and describe in five separate paragraphs five points or
proposals the President made that will affect you and yours, and explain. Due
Thurs. Jan. 26 at the beginning of class or via email. 5 extra credit points.
