In this course we will examine the institution of the American presidency and the challenges facing all presidents. We will pay particular attention to the Obama presidency, using news stories to try and compare the Obama administration as we move toward the first half year of his administration to theoretical findings about presidential performance in the text.

To get started in the course, go to the bookstore and buy your textbook, read the syllabus, and then to go the course schedule and assignments. All the links you need to get your assignments done are in the frame to the left. We will be using a blog for class discussions and posting written assignments for all to read. And read news about the Obama administration each and every day in the NY Times and Washington Post!
