As chair of the Department of History, Political Science, and Philosophy, I welcome you to our home
page. We want to share this information with you, especially those of you who are prospective USC-Aiken students planning to major in one of our academic fields. For those of you who are past students, stick around, because this is an opportunity to catch up on the latest departmental activities. And while you're here, check out our cyber-version of the departmental newsletter to find out about your old classmates and what your former profs are up to now. If you fit into neither category, we are still delighted to have you learn about us and what we have to offer.
We are proud of our programs, which include complete bachelor of arts degrees in history and political science, as well as a philosophy concentration in our bachelor of interdisciplinary studies program. Our programs are especially well-suited for students interested in pre-law. We even sponsor a club devoted to helping students make the jump into law school--check out our clubs section. Our faculty, though small (just like our classes), is excellent. Just check out our vitas. We are a community of active scholars and researchers, but our greatest source of pride is the quality of teaching we provide. Most of our faculty have either won or have been nominated for teaching awards at the local, state, and national levels. We are especially proud of the individual attention we provide our students, comparable with the kind found at the very best small, exclusive, liberal arts colleges, or at the graduate level--but at less than half the price! If our home page doesn't answer your questions about us, or if you just want to chat, give any of our faculty an e-mail buzz. Some of us may study old things, but we are right up front with the latest technology available. Enjoy our page, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
