| Topic: Global Politics & Current Affairs | This is an excellent course to introduce students to what matters in global politics. As an upper division topic course, students will be immersed in exploring the reasons driving daily global events. The course emphasizes the social individual level starting with the premise that it is people who matter in the world they are creating and for which they are responsible. Students will be placed front and center to carve out their own political space in the contemporary global order. Using narratives and everyday examples from news events, this phenomenological approach of study aims more at understanding than skimming through explanations of political phenomena. The classes will involve lectures, in-class current events analyses, and discussions. | Syllabus |
