(This calendar lists the MAJOR dates for the Fall 2002, Spring 2003, and Summer 2003 semesters. )

Fall Semester 2002 Academic Calendar

August 16-19 (Fri - Mon) - Walk-in fee processing in the Finance Office, Penland Administration Building, Room 114, for those who participated in Priority Registration and need to apply Financial Aid in person. 

August 19 (Mon) - VIP fee payment closes at 5 p.m.; Cancellation of schedules for non-payment of fees at 6 p.m.  NOTE:  Walk-in fee payment continues until 6 p.m. in the Finance Office, Penland Administration Building, Room 114. 

August 20 (Tue) - New student registration and fee processing - 1 p.m.-6 p.m. continuously in the Penland Administration Building.

August 21 (Wed) - New student registration and fee processing continues. - 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

August 21 (Wed) - Registration and fee processing for continuing/returning students - 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. in the Penland Administration Building.

August 21 (Wed) - VIP fee payment closes at 5 p.m.; 2nd Cancellation of schedules for non-payment of fees at 6 p.m.

August 22 (Thu) - UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE CLASSES BEGIN.

August 22-28 (Thu - Wed) - Late registration and schedule adjustments-9 a.m.-6 p.m. in the Registration Center, 108A Penland Administration Bldg. VIP will also be available all week as well as FDR from some advisors. - Note: the Registration Center will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 23.

August 28 (Wed) - Last day to register and/or change your schedule for classes in Sessions A002 and N002. Last day to drop a course or withdraw without record for Fall 2002 classes in Sessions A002 and N002. Last day to elect/revoke audit option for Fall 2002 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.

September 2 (Mon) - Labor Day--no classes. University closed.
September 6 (Fri) - Last day to apply for December Graduation.  Last day to submit Rising Junior Proficiency Portfolio in Writing for Fall 2002. 

October 2 (Wed) - Last day to drop a course or withdraw without receiving a "WF" for Fall 2002 classes in Sessions A002 and N002. Last day to elect/revoke pass/fail option for Fall 2002 classes in Sessions A002 and N002. 

October 7-8 (Mon - Tue) - Fall Break--no classes.  Cancelled.

October 11 (Fri) - Mid-point in semester.
November 4 - 8 (Mon - Fri) - Advisement begins for Spring 2003 for currently enrolled students.

November 5 (Tues) - Election Day--no classes. The University will be open.

November 11 - 15 (Mon - Fri) - Priority Registration for Spring 2003 for currently enrolled students.
November 27-29 (Wed - Fri) - Thanksgiving Holiday--no classes.

December 4 (Wed) - UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE CLASSES END.

December 5-6 (Thu - Fri) - Reading days.
December 9-13 (Mon - Fri)- Final exams.

December 12 (Thu) - Convocation at 7:00 p.m. in the SAC Gym.


Spring Semester 2003 Academic Calendar

January 6 - 7 (Mon-Tue) - Walk-in fee processing in the Finance Office, Penland Administration Building, Room 114, from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. for those who participated in Priority Registration and need to apply Financial Aid in person. Students who registered during Priority Registration may use these days to make schedule adjustments via VIP.

Note:  The Registrar's Office will close at 5 p.m. both days.  The Finance and Financial Aid Offices will remain open until 6 p.m. both days.

January 7 (Tue) - VIP fee payment closes at 6 p.m.; Cancellation of schedules for non-payment of fees at 6 p.m.  NOTE:  Walk-in fee payment continues until 6 p.m. in the Finance Office, Penland Administration Building, Room 114. 

January 8 (Wed) - New student registration and bill processing 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. continuously in the Penland Administration Building.

January 9 (Thu) - UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE CLASSES BEGIN.

January 31 (Fri) - Last day to apply for May graduation.  Last day to submit Rising Junior Proficiency Portfolio in Writing for Spring 2003. 

February 20 (Thu) - Last day to drop a course or withdraw without receiving a "WF" for Spring 2003 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.  Last day to elect/revoke pass/fail option for Spring 2003 classes in Sessions A002 and N002. 

February 28 (Fri) - Mid-point in semester.

March 10-14 (Mon - Fri)  - Spring Break -- no classes.

April 10-11 (Thu - Fri) -- no classes.

April 17 (Thu) -- Annual Academic Convocation at 7:00pm in the SAC Gym Etherredge Center.

April 28 (Mon) - UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE CLASSES END.

April 29-30 (Tue - Wed) - Reading days.

May 1-7 (Thu - Wed) - Final exams.

May 8 (Thu) - Commencement at 7 p.m. in the SAC Gym.


Maymester 2003 Academic Calendar 

May 9 (Fri) - Registration - 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.  

Note:  VIP will not be available on May 9th.  Students registering for Maymester classes on May 9th will need to bring their advisement form to the Records Office in Room 108A of the Penland Administration Building to have their registration processed.

May 12 (Mon) - CLASSES BEGIN.

May 12 (Mon) - Last day to drop a course or withdraw without any record for Maymester 2003 classes in Session A003.  Last day to elect/revoke audit option for Maymester 2003 classes in Session A003. 

Note:  VIP will not be available during Maymester for any type of registration activity for Maymester.  Students will need to go to the Records Office in Room 108A of the Penland Administration Building to process all schedule adjustments.

May 16 (Fri) - Last day to drop a course or withdraw without receiving a "WF" for Maymester 2003 classes in Session A003.  Last day to elect/revoke pass/fail option for Maymester 2003 classes in Session A003.  

May 26 (Mon) - Memorial Day -- no classes.

May 28 (Wed)  - CLASSES END.

May 29 (Thu) - Final exams.


Summer I 2003 Academic Calendar

May 30 (Fri) - Registration - 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

June 2 (Mon) - CLASSES BEGIN.

June 2 - 3 (Mon-Tue) - Late registration and schedule adjustments - 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

June 3 (Tue) - Last day to register and/or change your schedule for Summer I 2003 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.  Last day to drop a course or withdraw without record for Summer I 2003 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.  Last day to elect/revoke audit option for Summer I 2003 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.
