Fall Semester 2003

Academic Calendar

April 3 (Thu) - Advisement begins for currently enrolled students.

April 14 - 18 (Mon - Fri) - Priority Registration for Fall 2003 for currently enrolled students.  VIP and the Registration Center located in 108A in the Penland Administration Building will be available as well as FDR from some advisors.

April 25 (Fri) - Last day to participate in Priority Registration for Fall 2003.

August 15 (Fri) - VIP re-opens at 9:00am for schedule adjustments for students who participated in Priority Registration.

August 15-18 (Fri - Mon) - Walk-in fee processing in the Finance Office, Penland Administration Building, Room 114, for those who participated in Priority Registration and need to apply Financial Aid in person. Note:  Friday hours - 9:00am - 5:00pm and Monday hours - 9:00am - 6:00pm.

August 18 (Mon) - VIP remains open until 6:00pm for schedule adjustments for students who participated in Priority Registration.

August 18 (Mon) - VIP fee payment closes at 6:00pm.; Cancellation of schedules for non-payment of fees at 6:00pm.  Note:  Walk-in fee payment continues until 6:00pm in the Finance Office, Penland Administration Building.

August 19 (Tue) - New student registration and fee processing - 1:00pm - 6:00pm continuously in the Penland Administration Building.

August 20 (Wed) - New student registration and fee processing continues - 9:00am - 1:00pm in the Penland Administration Building.

August 20 (Wed) - Registration and fee processing for continuing/returning students - 1:00pm - 6:00pm in the Penland Administration Building.

August 20 (Wed) - VIP fee payment closes at 6:00pm.; 2nd cancellation of schedules for non-payment of fees at 6:00pm.

August 21 (Thu) - UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE CLASSES BEGIN.

August 21 - 27 (Thu - Wed) - Late registration and schedule adjustments - 9:00am - 6:00pm in the Registration Center, 108A Penland Administration Building.  VIP will also be available all week as well as FDR from some advisors.  Note: the Registration Center will close at 5:00pm on Friday, August 22nd.

August 27 (Wed) - Last day to register and/or change your schedule for Fall 2003 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.  Last day to drop a course or withdraw without record for Fall 2003 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.  Last day to elect/revoke audit option for Fall 2003 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.

September 1 (Mon) - Labor Day--no classes. The University will be closed.

September 5 (Fri) - Last day to apply for December 2003 Graduation.  Last day to submit Rising Junior Proficiency Portfolio in Writing for Fall 2003.

October 2 (Thu) - Last day to drop a course or withdraw without receiving a "WF" for Fall 2003 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.  Last day to elect/revoke pass/fail option for Fall 2003 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.

October 6 - 7 (Mon - Tue) - Fall Break--no classes.

October 13 (Mon) - Mid-point in semester.

November 3 - 7 (Mon - Fri) Advisement for Spring 2004 for currently enrolled students.

November 10 - 14 (Mon - Fri) Priority Registration for Spring 2004 for currently enrolled students.

November 21 (Fri) Last day for Priority Registration for Spring 2004 for currently enrolled students.

November 26 - 28 (Wed - Fri) - Thanksgiving Holiday--no classes.

December 3 (Wed) - UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE CLASSES END.

December 4 - 5 (Thu - Fri) - Reading days.

December 8 - 12 (Mon - Fri) - Final exams.

December 11 (Thu) - Convocation at 7:00 p.m. in the SAC Gym.


Spring Semester 2004

Academic Calendar


November 3 - 7 (Mon - Fri) Advisement for Spring 2004 for currently enrolled students.

November 10 - 14 (Mon - Fri) Priority Registration for Spring 2004 for currently enrolled students.

November 21 (Fri) Last day for Priority Registration for Spring 2004 for currently enrolled students.

January 6 - 7 (Tue - Wed) - Walk-in fee processing in the Finance Office, Penland Administration Building, Room 114, from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. for those who participated in Priority Registration and need to apply Financial Aid in person.  Students who registered during Priority Registration may use these days to make schedule adjustments via VIP.

Note:  The Registrar's Office will close at 5 p.m. both days.  The Finance and Financial Aid Offices will remain open until 6 p.m. both days.

January 7 (Wed) - VIP fee payment closes at 6 p.m.; Cancellation of schedules for non-payment of fees at 6 p.m. Note:  Walk-in fee payment continues until 6 p.m. in the Finance Office, Penland Administration Building, Room 114.

January 8 (Thu) - New students, re-admit students, transfer students, and continuing students registration and bill processing 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. continuously in the Penland Administration Building.

January 9 (Fri) - VIP fee payment closes at 5 p.m.; Second cancellation of schedules for non-payment of fees at 5 p.m.

January 12 (Mon) - UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE CLASSES BEGIN.

January 12 - 16 (Mon - Fri) Late registration and schedule adjustments - 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.  VIP will also be available all week as well as FDR from some advisors.  Note:  The Registration Center will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, January 16.

January 16 (Fri) - Last day to register and/or change your schedule for classes in Sessions A002 and N002.  Last day to drop a course or withdraw without record for Spring 2004 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.  Last day to elect/revoke audit option for Spring 2004 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.

January 19 (Mon) - Martin Luther King, Jr., Day -- no classes.  University will be closed.

January 30 (Fri) - Last day to apply for May graduation.  Last day to submit Rising Junior Proficiency Portfolio in Writing for Spring 2004.

February 23 March 1(Mon) - Last day to drop a course or withdraw without receiving a "WF" for Spring 2004 classes in Sessions A002 and N002.  Last day to elect/revoke pass/fail option for Spring 2004 classes in Sessions A002 and N002. (Please note the deadline for withdrawing without receiving a "WF" has been extended from Monday, February 23rd to Monday, March 1st.)

March 1 (Mon) - Mid-point in semester.

March 8 - 12 (Mon - Fri)  - Spring Break -- no classes.

April 15 (Thu) - Annual Academic Convocation at 7:00 p.m. in the Etherredge Center.

April 26 (Mon) - UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE CLASSES END.

April 27 - 28 (Tue - Wed) - Reading days.

April 29 - May 5 (Thu - Wed) - Final exams.

May 6 (Thu) - Commencement at 7 p.m. in the SAC Gym.


Maymester 2004

Academic Calendar

May 7 (Fri) - Registration - 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.  

Note:  VIP will not be available on May 7th.  Students registering for Maymester classes on May 7th will need to bring their advisement form to the Records Office in Room 109 of the Penland Administration Building to have their registration processed.

May 10 (Mon) - CLASSES BEGIN.

May 10 (Mon) - Last day to drop a course or withdraw without any record for Maymester 2004 classes in Session A003Last day to elect/revoke audit option for Maymester 2004 classes in Session A003.

May 14 (Fri) - Last day to drop a course or withdraw without receiving a "WF" for Maymester 2004 classes in Session A003.  Last day to elect/revoke pass/fail option for Maymester 2004 classes in Session A003.

Note:  VIP will not be available during Maymester for any type of registration activity.  Students will need to go to the Records Office in Room 109 of the Penland Administration Building to process all schedule adjustments.

May 25 (Tue)  - CLASSES END.

May 26 (Wed) - Final exams.


Summer I 2004

During the Summer I 2004 semester, classes will meet Monday - Thursday.

May 27 (Thu) - CLASSES BEGIN.

May 31 (Mon) - Memorial Day - Classes will be held

June 28 (Mon) - CLASSES END.

June 29 - 30 (Tue-Wed) - Final exams.


Summer II 2004

During the Summer II 2004 semester, classes will meet Monday - Thursday.

June 30 (Wed) - Registration - 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.

July 1 (Thu) - CLASSES BEGIN.

July 5 (Mon) - Independence Day Holiday -- University closed.

August 3 (Tue) - CLASSES END.

August 4 - 5 (Wed-Thu) - Final exams.

August 7 (Sat) - Commencement (Columbia campus).
