BUSINESS LICENSE 
If your business is located in the cities of Aiken or North Augusta or you do business regularly in those cities, you will need a city business license.

SALES TAX NUMBER
If you buy products for resale you will need a retail sales license. The form to apply for that number is SCTC-III, South Carolina Tax Commission Business Tax  application and can be requested from:

INCORPORATION
To incorporate in South Carolina, a charter is filed with the Secretary of State's Office in Columbia. See your attorney. 

FEDERAL EMPLOYER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER    (Federal EIN) 
 A sole proprietor with no employees and with no other reporting needs would not request a Federal EIN. The SS-4 is the form to use for requesting the number and has information on which businesses need a Federal EIN. This form may be requested by calling the IRS in Atlanta at 1-800-TAX FORM. For questions concerning federal taxes, call 1-800-TX-1040.
