EQUINE DIVINE

Aiken’s first gallery/gift emporium dedicated exclusively to horses recently opened, the dream of entrepreneur Lydia del Rossi. Equine Divine offers a niche market for wedding gifts, souvenirs and home decorations with a unique “Aiken flavor,” and presents monthly art shows featuring nationally known and local equine artists. Lydia expects the shop to “celebrate the rich heritage of Aiken’s equine sport history and bridge the gap between the tack shop and fine art.”

Sweet Cow Creamery
Richard and Laura Sherman dreamed of having their own little ice cream shop.  They came to the Aiken SBDC for guidance on how to open and manage such a business successfully. Reka F. Mosteller, Area Manager of the Aiken SBDC, assisted them with numerous marketing and strategic planning issues.  After many office visits to the Aiken SBDC and many revisions to their business plan, finally the dream came true: The Shermans opened Sweet Cow Creamery, a lovely ice cream parlor in downtown Aiken.   The store has become an integral part of the downtown environment, attracting many customers, old and young.

Gardens By Beadles
After retiring to Aiken in 1998, Dave Beadles developed a love for gardening. Two rose bushes soon bloomed to over 140. Encouraged by friends, Dave developed a business to help people take care of their roses. Dave works with customers individually to design and install a rose garden that will suit their individual needs, and offers service contracts which provide for spraying, pruning and fertilization as his customers prefer.
