From the Desk of Dr. Ralph Byington
Dean, School of Business Administration
It is indeed a pleasure for me to introduce myself. I assumed the duties of Dean of the School of Business Administration on July 1, 2003 and have spent the time getting to know more about the School and University. What I have found supports what I learned during the interview process. We have dedicated faculty, impressive students, supportive alumni and community members, and a great administrative system.
I am now turning my attention to our alumni. While we have had some contact with you in the past, I would like to improve on that relationship. To be frank, I need your help. As an AACSB accredited school, I need input for all constituents and that most definitely includes you. Additionally, I want to make it fun. Remember your days at USCA? Well, let's try to relive some of those feelings.
While the University has an alumni group, I want to have more of a direct contact with you so I am proposing that we establish a SOBA Alumni and Friends association. What does it take to join? As a graduate of the USCA School of Business, you already qualify. I would like to identify four or five of you to spearhead this group's formation. So if you are interested please give me or Mike Ritchie (803-641-3228) a call.
This group will meet twice a year to help the school with our planning efforts. Additionally, we will tie our efforts into some worthwhile projects because as business professionals we all know how important our communities are. Finally, we will not forget the fun part and we will tie our meetings to special programs or athletic events.
So, now it's up to you. Be the leader that you learned how to be while at USCA and volunteer to help us put this group together. Please keep us in you thoughts and give me a call or send me an e-mail if I can do anything for you. It would also be a great help if you could send us a current business card. The School of Business is planning to create an Alumni Bulletin Board and would like to include you and your business association. We are very excited about this new SOBA Alumni and Friends Association and would encourage all of our alumni to become part of this meaningful and enjoyable activity. Hope to hear from you soon.
