Welcome to my web pages.  This site is primarily intended for USCA students.  It contains some information about me, my classes, and some other information and links.  & More to come...

My Background:  I teach accounting and international business at USCA, specializing in managerial accounting.  My research interests lie in those areas, decision-making, and with growing interest in international study, and teaching improvements.  I have worked on several grants to develop managerial training programs for former Russian nuclear defense workers in connection with U.S. and Russian nuclear non-proliferation programs.  I hope to stay involved in those efforts.

I started at USCA in 1997, coming directly from Virginia Tech where I completed my Ph.D.  Prior to that, I got an MBA in Finance from New York University a long, long time ago (with a BS from Colorado even longer ago).  Between my MBA and my Ph.D.  I worked out of New York in both public accounting and private industry for some twenty years, did a bunch of international work, and got my CPA and CMA along the way.  I started out / 'paid my dues' with Touche Ross (aka Deloitte & Touche) during my first six years, moving on to divisional and corporate controllership positions, with a stop at SONY as the director of their U.S. internal audit operations.  I remained active in business through consulting to the U.S. subsidiary of a large Swedish company, and other consulting work for some time after beginning teaching, but haven't done much of that lately

Much of my career involved international business, which continues to interest me.  I have worked in Japan, Korea and Taiwan on start-up joint venture companies, and with U.S., German, Swedish, and Japanese multinationals.  In 1999 I helped to start the  USCA School of Business Study Abroad Program, bringing USCA classes and students to Europe for coursework during the summer.  I teach an intensive course in financial decision tools at a leading business school in France (IESEG, in Lille), and thoroughly enjoy the experience, the institution, and the students -- Although, I'd have to agree with my pals Dorothy and Toto: "there's no place like home."  Still, international study is a wonderful way for students, faculty and USCA to develop and "internationalize' ourselves.  I hope to work on other opportunities for us to follow that rewarding and exciting path.
