Dr. Sanela Porca

Dr. Sanela Porca is a native of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  She received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  She also received the Master of Arts in Economics from the Miami University, Oxford, OH and the Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Denison University, Granville, OH.  While at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Porca worked for the Center for Business and Economic Research.  She has participated in numerous applied projects through the Center for Business and Economic Research and conducted analysis for contracted research projects.  Dr. Porca has a variety of research interests in economics.   Her main interest is an analysis of tax revenue system and the effects that public policies have on regional economic development.  Dr. Porca research focus is on main determinants of sales and income taxes, such as tax competition, tax exporting, tax complexity and tax structure evolution. Her research interests also include economic development of economies in transition and internationalization of the SOBA curriculum.

As a teacher, Dr. Porca tries to motivate, encourage and help students grow and discover their strengths.  Her aim is to provide all students, regardless of their background or circumstances, with the opportunity to acquire a first-rate education.
